Full library discovery – redux

I wrote about ‘full library discovery’ a while ago.

And, indeed, we are beginning to see discovery environments which provide a layer over not only the collections, but also potentially over the library website, library staff and expertise, resource guides, and so on. In other words, we are seeing approaches to full library discovery emerge. [Full library discovery]

We can expect to see this trend strengthen as there is a general shift in website gravity from collections to library services more broadly construed. I gave a couple of academic library examples. Since then, I was interested to see a new website from Chicago Public Library which was a good example of what I was talking about. So, two things here: a quick look at the Chicago website, and then some further remarks about this trend.
