Axel is the Executive Director of Product Strategy at OCLC for EMEA & APAC. His primary focus is the Syndeo effort, which aims to combine the diversity of national metadata policies and practices with the advantages of globalized metadata services, as part of global efforts to introduce linked data and artificial intelligence-based metadata technologies. Axel has over 30 years of experience in the library industry in various positions, mainly focused on connecting cultural differences in a global environment. He has a PhD in Theoretical Physics (Humboldt-University Berlin, Germany, 1989).
