Chip Nilges
OCLC Vice President for Business Development
Chip joined OCLC in 1994 as a member of the FirstSearch team. In his career with OCLC, he has managed OCLC reference and interlibrary loan services and has led a variety of new product efforts, including WorldCat.org, QuestionPoint and WorldCat Local. Chip became Vice President of Business Development in 2007.
In his current role, Chip and his team manage OCLC's data licensing activities and commercial partnerships. Chip also manages OCLC’s M&A process, including the acquisition last year of Sustainable Collection Services.
Chip is an expert on library technology, databases and e-content. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe). In addition to his MBA and MA degrees, Chip holds a bachelor's degree in English; all are from The Ohio State University.
