Irene Hoffman

Executive Director, Member Relations

Irene is responsible for member engagement activities across the Cooperative. This includes oversight for Member Forums, Global and Regional Councils, governance, and outreach to members through conferences, presentations and on-site visits. Prior to joining OCLC, she worked at Georgetown University Library, the California State University, San Luis Obispo, and the University of California, Davis. She has expertise in areas of professional development for library professionals, library assessment, fund raising, personnel development, recruitment and strategic planning.

Irene holds a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine and Applied Arts from Northeastern Illinois University. She has written and spoken on such topics as careers for librarians, diversity in research libraries, successful fund-raising, and library outreach and marketing programs. She was also co-author and director of a successful IMLS grant to recruit and retain new librarians to academic libraries, and served as chair of the ACRL Assessment Committee. She is an active member of the American Library Association and the Association of College and Research Libraries.
