kalan started cataloging at Chester Fritz Library in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She currently works as the Special Collections Metadata Librarian at the University of Minnesota Libraries where she wrangles metadata, slings MARC records for special and rare materials, creates reams of cataloging documentation, and happily pontificates about the future of the bibliographic universe. Inspired by OCLC's Jay Jordan, kalan seeks to raise the next generation of catalogers to be linked-data and python savvy Information Jedis.
